LitFest Tour: The Bazaar Dungeon

The Faire is brimming with stories: breathtaking builds and fantastical creations designed to touch your heart and soul. What stories do they inspire in you? We invite you to put your Fantasy Faire experience into words.

The Bazaar Dungeon (Loki Eliot)

An ancient Elven prison, once filled with shifting walls to trap the incarcerated, now breached, opened and repurposed for trade. A subterranean world, where the glowing path assures safety and passages remain as yet unexplored – perhaps trapped, perhaps filled with undiscovered treasures worthy of the risk. And at the centre of it all, the ever-watching eye, ancient guardian of this place, waiting to rest its gaze upon those who tread too carelessly.

Seeds of Story

These are suggestions. Be inspired by this land and write what you desire.

After what felt like days in those caves, you emerge into the bazaar. The braziers and torches, dim as they are, are so much brighter that the dark of the tunnels, you blink in the light. What strikes your senses now? What do you notice first? Smells? Sounds? Sights? What do you want to touch? What will you say if you meet someone?

The bookseller’s stall is a welcome find. Perhaps there will be guidebooks. Or history. Myths and legends. Something to tell you where you are and how you came here. Write about what books you find and what you learn from them.

Be wary, wanderer! Drink and food will tempt you, but could have strange effects. If you succumb to the absinthe, unable to resist its allure, what visions will you see? What happens?

You stumble into these cages, which creak and sway. Looking around fearfully, you wonder if you have disturbed something that could get you into trouble. What sort of place is this, anyway? A shiver moves over your skin. What dangerous things might you find here?

In a high place, under an ominous (or perhaps protective?) mural, a wooden throne. It is empty and yet a brazier burns bright before it. Is this the seat of a tribal chieftain? A king? A queen? Imagine the one who sits on this throne has only stepped away for a moment and will soon return. Who is it? What will they do when they find you watching?
