LitFest Tour: Athenaeum Arcana

The Faire is brimming with stories: breathtaking builds and fantastical creations designed to touch your heart and soul. What stories do they inspire in you? We invite you to put your Fantasy Faire experience into words.

Athenaeum Arcana (Beq Janus)

Legends tell of a grand library, hidden between our worlds; of archivists and adventurers dedicated to saving the stories that we weave; of vast dimensional portals tearing through the very fabric of reality; and of how at its height, through folly or foul play, it was destroyed. Now, for those lucky few that know how to find it, the once great Athenaeum stands frozen in time at the very moment of destruction. A crossroads between realities, the wildest most incredible bazaar any world has ever seen.

Seeds of Story

These are suggestions. Be inspired by this land and write what you desire.

This was once a place whole unto itself, protected from the outside world. But what kind of place would choose to enclose itself is such a way? And how was it accomplished? Imagine what it would take for this to happen.

Within this place, underneath the buildings, a vast library was hidden. If you had access to such a place, what would you look for? What would you hope to find?

This outpost had its guardians, holding lights aloft, lights made to look like hourglasses. Was Time sacred here? Was it valued? These Ladies of Time, how might they have served?

But then, one day, the horror came. Who could have predicted their greatest danger lay not outside, but underneath? The bloody hand crushing all they knew. What was this creature? What did it want?

Still, the lonely tower stands. Its windows are dark now but perhaps a lone figure still watches, waiting for a better time. Waiting, perhaps, for aid from other lands. Who is that figure?
