LitFest Tour: Astrid’s Nemeton

The Faire is brimming with stories: breathtaking builds and fantastical creations designed to touch your heart and soul.  What stories do they inspire in you? We invite you to put your Fantasy Faire experience into words.

Astrid’s Nemeton (lrriven)

Welcome traveler to these lands of hope.

This is a place where miracles happen, where magic lives on the air and graces every being who walks its paths. Here the cursed come seeking refuge and the blessed offer a guiding hand to those in need. These are the lands of faerie, just on the edge of humanities borders. This is the seat of the last of the great druids; Astrid. Her nemeton, the rocky crags, hidden grottos, and lush plateaus is a safe home for all of the fae.
Many who breach our borders come seeking salvation, and we can offer that. But we are faerie and everything has its price.

Astrid’s Nemeton hosts all the teams of One Team Initiative, as well as the information headquarters for the KNH Hope Hostel. It also features the second performance stage, The Theatre of the Mists.

Seeds of Story

These are suggestions. Be inspired by this land and write what you desire.

Sense the magic in this land, carried in the mist, shimmering in the leaves of the trees. Imagine a traveler landing on these shores. Who is she? What does she seek? What is she escaping? What will she find here?

The traveler finds a pool graced with lotus blossoms. What does he spy cooling in the shadows? Does the little mer live here or is she, like him, a traveler?

Another traveler seeks refuge in healing waters pouring from rock that seems sentient. Perhaps the splashing of the falls carries messages. What are they? What does he hear as he bathes? The water whispers of a hidden cave where treasure can be found but when he ventures in it appears empty. Will he get back out?

What magic is this? A traveler peers over a steep ledge to spy a stone circle that appears to be guarded by runes. Are those wild cats?

Our traveler marvels at the buildings she finds. What are they? She traces her fingers over the carvings. Are there messages here? She tips her head back, eyes to the sun, to gaze at the wyrms overhead. Were they real once? Are they still?
