Fairelands 2018

Every year the Fairelands return to us in new shapes and forms, bringing with them new lands and creatures, mountains and forests, streams and lakes, and such stories that one could spend the whole Faire trying to puzzle them out and still scratch only the surface.

These are the Fairelands of 2018, waiting for you to explore their paths and waterways.

Astrid’s Nemeton by Lrriven. The RFL One Team, KNH Hope Hostel & The Theatre of the Mists
Welcome traveler to these lands of hope.
This is a place where miracles happen, where magic lives on the air and graces every being who walks its paths. Here the cursed come seeking refuge and the blessed offer a guiding hand to those in need. These are the lands of faerie, just on the edge of humanities borders. This is the seat of the last of the great druids; Astrid. Her nemeton, the rocky crags, hidden grottos, and lush plateaus is a safe home for all of the fae.
Many who breach our borders come seeking salvation, and we can offer that. But we are faerie and everything has its price.

Athenaeum Arcana by Beq Janus.
Legends tell of a grand library, hidden between our worlds; of archivists and adventurers dedicated to saving the stories that we weave; of vast dimensional portals tearing through the very fabric of reality; and of how at its height, through folly or foul play, it was destroyed. Now, for those lucky few that know how to find it, the once great Athenaeum stands frozen in time at the very moment of destruction. A crossroads between realities, the wildest most incredible bazaar any world has ever seen.

Sponsored by Secrets of Gaia.

The Bazaar Dungeon by Loki Eliot.
An ancient Elven prison, once filled with shifting walls to trap the incarcerated, now breached, opened and repurposed for trade. A subterranean world, where the glowing path assures safety and passages remain as yet unexplored – perhaps trapped, perhaps filled with undiscovered treasures worthy of the risk. And at the centre of it all, the ever-watching eye, ancient guardian of this place, waiting to rest its gaze upon those who tread too carelessly.

Erstwhile by Marcus Inkpen & Sharni Azalee.
A close look here sees walkways, docks… a skyport in the bowl of an enormous crater, wrought from a technology so advanced that it will forever seem ancient. From here, merchants in scarabesque vessels ply their trade between the worlds, between realities. But step back; let the sunlight gleam from the opalescent hulls and they become as petals, the brass and iron of the walkways become stems, to the structures that hold it all together: a magnificent flower, shining in the crater’s embrace. In the middle of it all, a bright light streaks upwards, the connection to those other realities by which these ships journey to places as yet undreamed. This is the gateway of now. The launching off point for those brave souls that are truly ready for the future.

Falls of Hope – picture by Sunny Difference.

Sponsored by Merchants of Dreams.

Falls of Hope by Sweetgwendoline Bailey & Eldowyn Inshan.
Cliffs rise high above, with bridges to provide a path for travellers between the caves that have been adopted by intrepid traders. Around them, waterfalls and plants that hang towards the floor where, again, more caves provide a home for delights brought by travellers from far away. The whole, then, becomes a rising gallery of water and vegetation, lush and tranquil.

The Halls of Story – picture by Alisaundra Andel.

The Halls of Story by Elicio Ember. – Literary Festival & Live at the Fairechylde
Once upon a time there was a race of ancient beings, older than humans, older than dwarves, some say even older than the elves and the folk. These beings were story-tellers and song-singers, their songs and stories shaped many cultures. This is their Hall. Here they gathered many of their tales. Some were light and happy, some were sad, some were dark. Some were even dangerous. As the aeons passed, these beings faded into story themselves, and the hall fell silent and in the end, it was forgotten. It was the Elves who found it anew, restored it, and opened it and its tales to all races and realms. Since then, the Halls of Story have gathered tales from many times, races, and places, and some say…even many realities. Welcome to the Halls of Story.

Pools of Ethuil – picture by Alisaundra Andel.

Sponsored by Roawenwood.

Pools of Ethuil by Searlait Nitschke.
Nestled among the highest branches of spring trees, the southern Elves make their home above watery lowlands. This is a tranquil, mystical place in the heart of nature, wrought from the gentle shades of nature’s palette, where aerial pathways hang in the spaces between dwellings and the leaves are warmed by sun above and lights below.

Sanoria – picture by Sunny Difference.

Sponsored by Dragon Magick Wares, Spyralle, Tai’Dyed & Sandhands.

Sanoria by Chic Aeon.
Soft sands and warm breezes speak of a age long ago when ancients, no longer tethered to time and place, departed Sanoria in search of others of their kind. Ruins, seemingly deserted, still hold echoes of their essence and when the Southern winds call pilgrims come. They know not why — only that there is magic in the land that calls to them and they cannot resist.

Severina – picture by Sunny Difference.

Sponsored by BattleBeast Breedables.

Severina by Lokii Violet.
From the mists, the village peeks from beneath it’s blanketing shadow, spires that reach to the heavens for salvation that never comes.. It’s spoken only as a myth to some, where creatures of the darkness hold dominion over the very light itself to swaddle the island in the goddess of the night’s sway. Severina sings like a siren’s call, beckoning the wayward travelers from their domiciles; stray not too far without a lantern, and raise your glass and tip your hat to the ferryman, for he may be the last one that sees you to that good rest if you don’t make it to the next night.

The Story Well – picture by Caitlin Tobias.

Sponsored by SWANK.

The Story Well by Lilia Artis & Haveit Neox Main Performance Stage & Fantasy Faire Art Gallery
Horseshoe shaped island which rises from the ocean like a hill. Covered by bright houses and a castle at the summit with the look of a naive painting with primary colors. In the proximity of the castle is a well which is also the entry to the world below the sea; a realm of fantasy creatures. In the far corner of the sim is the performance stage made out of rafts, nearly flush with the ocean.  The audience seats are on sheets of paper that appear to be floating between the stage and the cave entrance at the base of the hill island. The hillside not facing the stage will have a harbor with the fantasy art galleries.
